January’s almost done, and so are most people’s resolutions. The gyms are starting to clear out. Many a diet has been broken. And the energy and steam you had connected to your 1st of the year business goals is probably starting to wane. You may be seeing yourself slip
into the same patterns you had last year.
If that sounds like you, don’t beat yourself up too much. It’s pretty normal. But under no circumstances should you throw in the towel! Isn’t it funny how passionate people get about their goals and how quickly they are willing to give up. NOT YOU MY FRIEND! You will be the exception to the statistics.
If you have fallen off the wagon for your business goals, here’s what to do to get back on track.
- Re-evaluate your goals. Most people don’t do drastic change well. They burn out because they haven’t built up the stamina yet. So rather than trying to go from selling 2K a month to selling 20K, maybe you need an inbetween step. I’d rather you focus on a 10% increase than a dramatic overhaul that isn’t likely to happen.
- Learn the skills you need to create the win. I’m currently studying digital marketing trends. Because guess what, they are changing! I saw my marketing trending down last year and realized that I needed to update my digital marketing education. So, here I am taking a bunch of courses in the new year. What education are you missing?
- Get the right support system in place. Do you need a mentor who has been down this path before and can teach you based on their experience? A coach who can see the big picture and direct you on which moves you should be making? A consultant who
will work with you to create new strategies and systems in your business? A Power Partner that can help hold you accountable? A teacher who simply has a great method and great content to teach you? They all function a little bit differently, and you need different types of support during different seasons of your business. But please, stop trying to do business all by yourself! - Opt out of non-essential obligations. If you are serious about your business goals, then get serious about focus. If you are involved in too many things, your focus is divided and you become less effective in all things that you do. Now would be a great time to get off of committees, groups, and any other activities that are not in alignment with your goals. Sometimes less is more!
- Start tracking your goals! If you haven’t downloaded it yet, here’s the Goal setting tracker that I created for my clients at the beginning of the year. This will give you a simple visual to see if you are on track to reach your goals.
As you are actively growing your business, remember to enjoy the journey. Setting and achieving goals should be FUN!
