If you’re thinking of doing webinars, take my advice and spend more time thinking about how to promote a webinar, and less time thinking about what you are going to say!
Webinars were hot when I started my business 6 and a half years ago. It was pretty easy to put together some good information, do a little promotion and then show up to a fairly full room. That ship has sailed!
So if you’re frustrated with your webinars because you’re not getting results, let me just suggest that it might not be your content. It might just be that you need to know how to promote a webinar in 2019.
If I could sum it all up into one single sentence here’s what you have to do: Promote more than you’ve ever had to promote before!
Is it worth all the extra work and expense? Yes. Because it’s still a great way to let prospective clients get to know you, and a great place to sell your products and services. So I don’t think we should give up on webinars. I think we should just adjust our expectations and learn how to promote a webinar in a way that works now!
So here’s my 6 tips: 4 are free, 2 would cost budget.
Free:
- Train a team with 100 people. There are more of these opportunities than you might think. Look for sales teams, network marketing teams, corporate teams. Everyone is looking for training and it’s a great way for you to add to your list!
- Find Ambassadors/ Affiliates and pay them in your services or products. If you’ve got a handlful of people who already know like and trust you, incentivize them to invite other people onto your webinars.
- Send targeted LinkedIn Invites using sales navigator. It’s a great way to connect with and invite only people who are a fit for the webinar. That way you aren’t spamming all of your connections, when it’s not a fit for half of them.
- Do a FB Live blitz/ IGTV blitz. Video is hot right now. And if you want to get the max visibility on social media, plan several days of videos to get seen by as many people as possible.
Budget: Now for how to promote a webinar through paid promotion.
- FB/ Instagram Ads. This is the most powerful ad platform for short term events like a webinar. They’ve built an amazing platform. Plug in and set aside some budget to run those ads.
- Pay Influencers to promote for you. This is how Influencers make their money. People pay them to promote their stuff! So don’t feel like you are bugging them by asking their rates. They want you to ask them their rates! Make sure their audience is there audience and find someone that makes sense for you to partner with.
And now for the fun part. If you want 100 people on your next webinar. I recommend doing ALL SIX of these! You’ll find each one brings a trickle of people. And that trickle will add up over time.
