LinkedIn Content Marketing anyone? How to crush your Strategy:
I’ve been playing on new platforms this year and it’s deepening my appreciation for LinkedIn. Kind of like when you go to a new country and are suddenly appreciative of everything from back home. The other platforms require more production, more testing, more fiddling to try to win in the algorithms. But LinkedIn Content Marketing remains simple and reminiscent of Facebook in 2012.
LinkedIn Content Marketing is kind of behind the trends, which makes it easier for us. If you think back a couple of years ago, your LinkedIn feed was full of things like, “Sally got a new job. Congratulate her.” And it was all about endorsing people for skills. It was more about connecting professionally, and there weren’t as many content creators on the platform. Articles were the main way to add value to the platform.
Today LinkedIn Content Marketing is really hitting it’s stride. And LinkedIn offers one of the friendliest platforms for free visibility. So if you don’t want to have to pay to boost all of your posts, put those articles, videos, and captivating photos on LinkedIn.
Here’s 6 types of content performing well for us on LinkedIn. Hopefully this will help you get started with your LinkedIn Content Marketing Strategy for 2019. (Check out the video for added information on how to SIMPLIFY your content creation process!)
- Quantity over quality. You don’t need 3 posts a day. And while one a day is good, many people don’t check their LinkedIn every day. So you can get by with 3-4 high quality posts each week and still create some traction.
- Repurpose your YouTube Videos or FB Lives. Great news on LinkedIn, sharing a link from an outside video source does NOT penalize you in the algorhythms. So you can take your Youtube videos and share them on the platform.
- The Longform post– Longform posts seem to be doing well for us across all platforms. It’s not as long as a blog post, but maybe 2-4 paragraphs that allow you to dive in to a topic.
Engaging Pictures: On Instagram stock images are not performing well for us. Our original photos win out every time. However, I am not a photographer or a model, so that can be challenging. On LinkedIn, we are still getting good traction on Stock images and original images. It cuts down on the pressure to always be taking pictures of everything I’m doing!- Trending article with a write up or review of your opinion. Don’t have time to write your own articles? Share someone else’s, however if you want to stand out in the crowd, share it with your opinion. Tell the world if you agree or disagree and why and it will start some engaging conversation.
- Repurpose your articles to drive traffic to your blog. I’ve been blogging weekly for over 6 years. And I don’t want to take the time to create 2 articles a week. So I repurpose my blog as a LinkedIn article. It’s a time saver, and it also drives more traffic to my blog.
