My guess is that most people reading this article started off the year with goals. But I think it’s also likely that you didn’t create support amy walker consulting visiontools to help ensure you hit those goals!

Your brain needs reminders. You’ve got to train your brain to believe that where you are going is real. You want to create a mental pull towards those goals. It’s going to take focus. You can’t expect to go two weeks without thinking about your goals and then wonder why you don’t seem to be progressing.

That vision should be in front of you EVERY SINGLE DAY!  It should be the talk on everyone’s lips on the team. So here’s 5 things I do to help strengthen my commitment and focus on my goals.

  1. Vision Story– I write the story of my life as though I had already completed those goals. I make it as detailed as possible. I put as much emotion behind those as I can. And then I read it every day. I record myself saying the words of my vision story so I can listen in replay.
  2. Vision Board– This is a picture representation of the things you are working to achieve personally and in business. Keep your vision board in a prominent place that you see often. Look at it every morning and night. Be intentional about the things you want.
  3. Declarations– Declarations are power statements that strengthen your resolve. Focus on the positives when you write these declarations. Instead of saying something like, “I hope to build a million dollar company.”  You would want to say, “I am a powerful leader with vision and determination. I am running a million dollar company!” Create your statements as though they are already true. Your brain believes whatever you program it to believe. This is a great tool to get into the subconscious thinking and increase your belief and resolve. Use these statements every time your thoughts start creeping towards doubt or stress.
  4. amy walker consulting visionAnthem– Pick a power song for the year. A song that represents all the energy and emotion you want to feel. And blast it in the mornings as you get ready!  Blast it when you need that afternoon pick me up. Sing along and sing out loud!  Music is a powerful motivator and one of the fastest ways to change your energy.
  5. Becoming poster– This is one of my favorites. I have a poster with an outline of a girl. The inside is full of words representing who I want to be. It reminds me of the journey I am on. The qualities I already possess, and the ones I am developing. This tool more than any of the others helps me feel like I can do audacious and bold things. It helps me have confidence in myself.

There’s a gap between vision and reality. If you want your vision to become your reality, build a bridge using these powerful tools!
