The Pajama Principle: My secret to growing fast in business

Hair done, makeup on, jewelry on and dressed for business right?  Well… this is what you did not see.

Yep, pajama pants!  And it wasn’t just for the webinar.  I drove my kids to school dressed like this.  I played outside with my boys like this.  You may be wondering, how does this relate to business?  Well this is the secret to my success.

When I got my kids ready for school in the morning, and we went to walk out of the house, my oldest son said, “Mom, you’re not ready!”  Oh but I was!  Was it perfect?  No.  But it was FUNCTIONAL!  I didn’t go to school without pants.  I just went with what I could do that morning.

The mistake I see so many business owners make is thinking that it is all or nothing.  Your programs must all be finished or you can’t sell them.  Your website has to be perfect or it can’t go live.  The structure of the business needs to be all in place before you get started.

I did NOT start my business that way.  I have built, and am building off of the Pajama Principle.

  1. What people see needs to be good!  Your product, your presentation, your service.
  2. What isn’t ESSENTIAL to your sales needs to be FUNCTIONAL- not perfect.
  3. Every area of your business gets attention, but they do not all get equal attention.  You put the majority of your attention into your income producing activities.
  4. You don’t do this forever!  At some point, you put on regular pants.  This is a principle that helps you to get going during the building phase.

If you have a message, service or product that you are PASSIONATE about, get going!  You could spend the next year getting ready, learning, making your website pretty and getting ready, OR you could spend the next year making money and changing lives (Including yours).  It’s time to get moving!
